ATLAS OF THE UNHEARD

Charcoal on cartography, 2025

Map juxtaposing mechanical tracing of maritime cartography with hand drawing. The drawn hand is drowning. The coldness of the printed lines becomes dissonant with the materiality of the charcoal. The represented territory are the Balearic Islands, where my parents spent their honey moon in the seventies. Their shore is now the stage of antithetic regimes of images: that of destitute asylum seekers from the African continent reaching Mediterranean resorts and that of European tourists enjoying same shores.
